Vilediver
Boizrok
1989
In 1989, after the break up DiamondBack Al Thought that his dreams of
being a Rock n Roll singer were done. He had his chance and failed. But
thats just not how things worked out. He was invited to a friends to jam
one day. His friend John played drums and knew a guitar player that was
looking to form a band. Al went not knowing what to expect. When he got
there he saw Bill Tatum, a local guitarist who had played in a very
popular area band called Thrush. Bill was a few years older than Al and
Al had seen him play quite a few times. Bill handed him lyrics to one of
his songs. It was way more advanced than anything Al had written up to
that point.  Bill started playing the opening riff and Al was blown away. Al
sang the song a few times with the two and it never seemed to go past
that one song. Later that night Al Heard a knock on the door and it was
Bills actual drummer Matt who asked Al if he wanted to Join their band
Vilediver. Al agreed to join and started rehearsing with them.
The band had another guitarist Bob Young and together he and Bill
complimented each other with their playing style. The Band needed a
bass player so Al called Kevin Lester who had fillied in on guitar for
DiamondBack. Kevin however didnt last long due to the fact that he was
making money playing guitar and couldn't make time for both. Al called
Brian Lonergan from DiamondBack and he became the bass player. Matt
also didn't work out. His job took to much of his time and he couldn't
afford to jeopardize his lively hood on playing music. Al called Jay Lewton
from DiamondBack and he left his Hardcore metal band to play with Al
once again. Jay suggested that Vilediver wasn't a great name and came
up with Boizrok. The band took off in the Detroit area. the songs were
written more for a wide audience and people responded. Boizrok
became very popular around the city. Eventually inner squables would
destroy the band, first with the dismissal of Bob Young. Bob was
replaced by Eric Rokuski who had played with DiamondBack also, When
Eric returned from Guitar school in Hollywood. Within a couple of short
months after Eric's joining the band it was over. Gigs were cancelled and
Al was without a band again.
