In 1990 after Al was turned down as the singer for the band The Heat, because they said he
sounded too much like  Detroit guitar legend
David Neil Cline. Al actually met Dave one night
at Harpo's. The two hit it off and Al Became the singer for Dave's band. The Band consisted
of
David Neil Cline on Guitar, JD Donnelly on Bass, and Todd Bright on Drums. Originally
the band was called David Neil Cline, but was changed to Tryton at JD Donnelly's request.
Tryton was a powerhouse line up. starting out playing Dave's music from his two solo albums
and later evolving into its own original style. Tryton became the favorite of musicians around
the Detroit area, often playing to crowds filled with other local bands. late 80s early 90s
Radio Personality Bob Bower once said, " I have seen every band that has ever come to this
town, and this is the best band I have ever seen. Unfortunately after a couple of years the
bands members were moving in different directions and decided to part ways, Al has often
said that he never quite captured the magic of Tryton again in his carreer. Tryton's sole
recording endeavor was a six song Demo titled TRYTON - FTW.
