While playing with Daddy's Belt, Al was approached by his agent Angel Gomez about singing
for the band AngelBlaze. The band was a nationally touring cover act, so Al agreed to talk to
them. Members of the band went to Daddy's Belt show to observe Al in action. The Next day
he was offered the gig. The band consisted of Radu Corneanu on Guitar and Keys, Mick
Luke on Guitar, Richie Kahn on Bass, and Vinnie Hall on Drums. Al flew out after his last
Daddy's Belt show and met them in Key West to play at the legendary club Durty Harry's. The
band soon changed its name to GrooveTribe, fitting in more with the grunge bands of the era.
Mark Lewis from Detroit would later play Drums for the band. The popularity of the band was
growing across the country, but life on the road took its toll on Al. Depression and alcohol
would make him walk away from the band and music all together. GrooveTribe had one
original song called Wrong Number, written by Al with help from Mark Lewis. It was never
recorded.
