Aleon's Curse of the pharaoh
|
As the sun rises over the great pyramid Rameses, son of
the Pharaoh Amenhotep, awakes to find his stepmother
the queen dead beside him. He is overcome with grief not
because his stepmother is dead, but that she was his one
true love. When his father learns of the queens death, and
his sons betrayal Rameses is quickly sentenced to death,
but not before being cursed to relive the events leading up
to his demise. Stripped of his worldly title and forced to
walk through his memories as a shadowy figure part of the
memory but in spirit alone feeling only anguish and pain.
From the first time he saw her falling hopelessly in love to
their last embrace he must relive it all until he knows the
truth. How did she die? Did he really kill her? Was it his
father? Only the truth can set him free.
While starring as Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar Al met
Bryan L Johnson a Guitarist from the Cleveland OH area.
Al had offers from multiple bands in the area, but had no
interest. Bryan sent Al an audio file of a song called
Spanish Suite interlude, and Al was intrigued. After a few
conversations it was apparent that Bryan was a serious
musician, with serious talent. Al still had no interest in
playing local clubs as a rock band, but entertained the idea
of writing a Rock - Opera. In Fact Al's intention was to write
the first Heavy Metal - Opera. The story was simple. It was
an Egyptian theme, with a love triangle between The
Pharaoh, his son the Prince , and the Pharaohs new bride.
The story would begin at the end. When the Prince awakes
to find his lover, the new Queen, dead next to him. His
father the Pharaoh enters to find his sons betrayal. The
Pharaoh places a curse upon his son to wander through
his memories until he admits his crime or sees the truth.
The opening song Scene 1 later named the Curse consists
of two vocal parts, The Pharaoh and The Prince. Al
performed both parts in the recording, with the hope that
someday the Pharaoh would be performed by Ronnie
James Dio. Eight songs were recorded in total before the
project was put on the shelf. Al has always hoped to revisit
the project someday and finish what he started
